Have you ever thought about a website which you visited 3 or 4 months back and didn’t bookmark it and want to visit it again. But how you can do that when you don’t remember the URL and you have cleared your browser history as well. Well i recently discovered an amazing feature of Google which is Google Web History.

This is not a new thing from Google. It was launched in 2007 April. According to Google “Web History lets you look back in time, revisit the sites you've browsed and search over the full text of pages you've seen. All you need is a Google Account and a Google Toolbar”

But most important thing is that, Google will keep the history of your searches only if you are logged in to you Gmail account at that particular time. If not, then your searches will not be recorded. In simple words, if you are logged in to your Gmail account and then do any searches on Google, then your searches (on Google only) will be recorded otherwise not. Let me guide you the site in easy steps

Walk With Me – Step By Step:

1. To visit the site Click Here and you will be taken to a page where you have to log in to your Gmail account or atleast have to put your Gmail password (if you are already logged in).

2. You will be redirected to the site which will be similar to the below screenshot

Google Web History

3. Although Google would be having a record of your previous searches but it will ask you to select any one of the option depending on your requirement.

a. Enable Web History: If you want to have a full record of all your sites you visited (a kind of browser history) then enable this option

To have a complete web history, you need to install Google Toolbar as well otherwise this option will not work. If Google Toolbar is already installed in your browser, then by enabling this option it will show you the complete web history. Otherwise you have to install Google Toolbar after enabling this option.

b. Limit Web History to Searches : If you want to limit Google to keep the record of your Google Searches only then enable this option

4. After selecting any of the option (i selected Enable Web History) you will see all of your browsing history and searches you made yesterday, this week, last week, last month and goes on and on and on. (note again, it will show you the result only if you have done browsing while already logged into your Gmail account)

5. On your left hand side of that page, you will see following options as shown in this picture. You can filter your results for example if you want to see only the images you searched on Google or only show your Web Pages which you visited, just click on the link and it will sort your history accordingly

This is really an amazing way to see all of your browsing history. You can easily find the website which you visited in past by filtering out the results from here.

6. The 2nd last option in this menu is Trends. By clicking on this link, you will be redirected to a page where you can see which sites you visited a lot, what are the most searched words and you can also see how many times do you search on Google in a graphical view as shown in below screenshot

7. On your right hand side of the main page, there is a small Calendar Widget which you can use to make your searching more easier. By clicking on the dates on Calendar, you can easily see what searches and which websites you visited on that particular day.

8. You can also make searches within your Web History. On the top of the page you will see a button named Search History, just enter what you are looking for and it will show you the results from your browsing history. It will surely save your time a lot

9. If you want to clear all of your Web History, then you can do that by clicking on the Remove Items link on your left hand sidebar and then you can either clear individual searches, a day history or all of your history.

10. If you discovered that this is a horrible thing to have it and you don’t want Google to keep an eye on your web browsing, then you can simply Click Here and delete all of your Web History as shown in the below screenshot.

Last Words

Yes i know that Google is kind a keeping an eye on you by keeping these records but you have an option to delete all of your history or disable it. Atleast i found this option really cool in order to see all of my past browsing history and the statistics of my searches.  Give me your feedback about this Google Web History at below page commenting section
